The iPhone® was released on June 29, 2007 and was the first smartphone apple produced, and it was manufactured by Foxconn.


The Original iPhone

The Original iPhone was released on June 29, 2007 at the WWDC07. It was the first smartphone of this product line, and was manufactured by Foxconn.

It featured a Samsung RISC ARM 32-bit 1176JZ CPU @ 416MHz with a PowerVR MBX Lite 3D GPU.

iPhone 3G

The iPhone 3G was released on July 11, 2008, and had 3G Networking, GPS signals, and it was released along with the iPhone OS 2.0

The iPhone 3G was released with two different flash storage capacities: 8GB and 16GB. It also featured Tri-band UMTS wireless networking.

iPhone 3GS

The iPhone 3GS was released on June 8, 2009 at the WWDC09, and the S stood for Speed. It was the first iPhone to feature a 3 Megapixel camera which allowed higher resolution.

The iPhone 3GS was also one of the most successful iPhones since it continued production until the iPhone 5 came out.

iPhone 4

The iPhone 4 was released on June 7, 2010, and was the thinnest smartphone of the time. It featured an all new Retina Display, which has a pixel density of 326ppi, and it also introduced the Apple A4 System-on-Chip. Most importantly, the iPhone 4 featured a stainless steel band with a glass pane at the back. It was also the first iPhone to have a front facing camera.

iPhone 4S

The iPhone 4S was released on October 14, 2011 at Apple's Main Campus, and it featured Siri, a Virtual Voice Assistant, and it was the last iPhone to have a 30-pin charging port.

The iPhone 4S came with 8, 16, 32, or 64GB Flash memory options.

It was the first iPhone to use the Apple A5 chip, at 1GHz. 

The iPhone 4S had iOS 5 preinstalled, but it is possible to update it to iOS 9.3.6.


iPhone 5

The iPhone 5 was released on September 21, 2012, and was the first iPhone to have an all-aluminum body. It was preinstalled with iOS 6, but upgradable to iOS 10.3.4. The iPhone 5 had an Apple A6 System on Chip with a dual core ARMv7-A @ 1.3GHz, and a PowerVR SGX543MP3 GPU. It came with 1GB of LPDDR2-1066 RAM, and 3 different flash memory capacities: 16, 32, or 64GB.

iPhone 5C

The iPhone 5C was released on September 20, 2013, and it was the first iPhone to come in more colors than black and white. It had a polycarbonate body, and shipped with iOS 7. It can be upgraded to iOS 10.3.3, and it had a 1510mAh Battery. It came with 1GB of LPDDR2-1066 RAM, and a dual-core ARMv7-A CPU with a PowerVR SGX 543MP3 GPU.

The iPhone 5C has also more antenna bands, and according to apple, it has more antenna bands than any other smartphone at the time.

iPhone 5S

The iPhone 5S was released on September 20, 2013, along with the iPhone 5C. It was manufactured by Foxconn, and has iOS 7 preinstalled, and upgradable to iOS 12.4.6. It had 1GB of LPDDR3RAM, and an Apple A7 System on Chip, with an Apple M7 Motion Processor. It  came with the 1.3GHz Dual-core Apple Cyclone CPU, and the PowerVR G6430 GPU.

This was also the first iPhone to have Gold as a color.

iPhone 6 and 6 Plus

The iPhone 6 series was released on September 14, 2014, and introduced smooth corners, and a bigger size. It was manufactured by Foxconn, and Pegatron, and the 16, 64, and 128GB models had iOS 8.0 preinstalled, while the 32GB model had 10.2.1 preinstalled, and all models are upgradable to iOS 12.4.6. The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus had an Apple A8 System on Chip, and an Apple M8 Motion Processor. It also had a dual-core ARMv8-A CPU @ 1.6GHz and a PowerVR Series 6 GX6450 GPU.

iPhone 6S and 6S Plus

The iPhone 6S series was released on September 9, 2015, and introduced a new color called Rose Gold. The iPhone 6S series was the first iPhones to have a new feature called 3D touch (Later named Haptic Touch and then removed). It also featured a 12 megapixel camera, and an Apple A9 System on Chip.

It was released with iOS 9.0, and upgradable to the most current iOS 13 version. The iPhone 6S series comes in 16, 32, 64, or 128GB TLC NAND / NVMe Models, and a 2GB LPDDR4 RAM.


iPhone SE

The iPhone SE was released on March 21, 2016 at the Apple Campus.

It was designed to have a greater battery capacity, and a camera to capture 4K images and videos. The iPhone SE was released with iOS 9.3, and upgradable to the latest version of iOS 13, but does not include 3D touch, nor the second generation Touch ID Sensor, which is in the iPhone SE 2020 Model.

iPhone 7 and 7 Plus

The iPhone 7 series was released on September 7, 2016. They featured a new color, Jet Black, and it was the first iPhone to not have the 3.5mm Headphone jack. The iPhone 7 series came with iOS 10.0.1, and is upgradable to the latest version of iOS 13, and has an optional 32, 128, or 256GB storage options. It also has a 2GB LPDDR4 RAM for the iPhone 7, but a 3GB LPDDR4 RAM for the iPhone 7 Plus. 

iPhone 8 and 8 Plus

The iPhone 8 series was introduced on September 12, 2017, and was the first iPhone to have a glass back pane, which allows wireless charging.

It was released alongside the iPhone X, which makes the iPhone 8 series a consumer iPhone, and also introduces the Apple A11 System on Chip. The iPhone 8 series came with a optional 64, 128, or 256GB Models, and a 2GB LPDDR4X RAM for the iPhone 8, and a 3GB LPDDR4X RAM for the iPhone 8 Plus.

iPhone X

The iPhone X was released on September 12, 2017, and featured a new hardware called Face ID. 

The iPhone X features a new Super Retina HD Display at 458ppi with 3D touch.

The iPhone X Shipped with iOS 11.0.1, and is Upgradable to the latest version of iOS 13. It comes in 64, or 256GB of flash memory, and 3GB LPDDR4X RAM. It also features an  A11 Bionic System on Chip, and an Apple M11 Motion Processor.

iPhone XS and iPhone XS MAX

The iPhone XS Series was released on September 21, 2018, and featured a 6.46 or a 5.85 inch display.

It was released with iOS 12.0, and upgradable to the latest version of iOS 13. It comes with an Apple A12 Bionic System on Chip, and an Apple M12 Motion Coprocessor, while maintaining 3 storage options: 64, 256, and 512GB.

It also comes with a Intel PMB9955 Modem, and 4GB LPDDR4X RAM.


iPhone XR

The iPhone XR was released alongside the iPhone XS and the XS MAX. It features wide range of colors, and an Apple A12 Bionic System on Chip, with an Apple M12 Motion Coprocessor. It comes in 64, 128, or 256GB models, with 3GB LPDDR4X RAM. It also has a IP67 rating for water and dust resistant rating.

iPhone 11

The iPhone 11 was released on September 10, 2019. It features an all-new Apple A13 Bionic chip with an Apple M13 Motion Coprocessor. It is available in 64, 256, or 512GB Models. It also has a IP68 water and dust resistant rating. It was shipped with iOS 13.0, and is upgradable to the latest version of iOS.

iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max

The iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max was released on September 10, 2019 along with the iPhone 11, and featured a new color called midnight green.

It also featured the Apple A13 Bionic System on Chip, and a Super Retina Extreme Dynamic Range Display, also available to the iPhone 11. It comes in 64, 256, and 512GB Models.

iPhone SE 2020

The iPhone SE 2020 was released on April 15, 2020, and is the only supported iPhone that includes a Touch ID sensor. It features a Apple A13 Bionic Chip, and it comes in Product Red, Black, and White colors.

It comes in 64, 128, or 256GB Models, each with 3GB of LPDDR4X RAM. It has a 12 Megapixel 6 Element Lens 4K Rear Camera with Optical Image Stabilization, and a 7MP 1080P Front Camera. It ships with iOS 13.0, and is upgradable to the latest version of iOS.

It also comes with a 4.7 Inch Retina HD 1334 by 750 Pixel Resolution 1400:1 Contrast Ratio Display at 326ppi.
