The Apple TV is a Digital Media Player Developed and Marketed By Apple Inc. 


Apple TV 1st Generation

The Apple TV 1st Generation was released on January 9, 2007, and was actually not the first Television Apple has produced. The first Television Apple Produced was the Macintosh TV, released a long time ago, in 1993. The Apple TV was equipped with a 1GHz Intel Pentium M CPU.

Apple TV 2nd Generation

The Apple TV 2nd generation was released on September 10, 2010, and featured an Apple A4 Chip and a PowerVR SGX535 GPU.

It has 256MB LPDDR2 RAM and 8GB NAND Flash. It also has WiFi 802.11 a/b/g and draft N with bluetooth 2.0 and EDR support.

Apple TV 3rd Generation

The Apple TV 3rd Generation was released on March 7, 2012, and has an Apple A5 Chip, a ARM Cortex-A9 CPU, and a PowerVR SGX543MP2 GPU.

It comes with 512MB LPDDR2 RAM and 8GB NAND Flash. It is compatible with 480p, 576p, 720p, and 1080p displays over HDMI with HDCP.

Apple TV HD

The Apple TV HD, also known as the apple TV 4th generation, was released on October 30, 2015, and featured a dual-core Apple A8 System on Chip with a PowerVR Series 6XT GX6450 GPU.

It comes with 2GB LPDDR3 RAM with 32 or 64GB NAND Flash. It is compatible with dual-band WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and bluetooth 4.0.

It is preinstalled with TvOS 9, and is upgradable to TvOS 13.4.

Apple TV 4K

The Apple TV 4k, the latest version of Apple TV, was released on September 22, 2017, and is the first and only Apple TV to have Gigabit Ethernet.

It comes with an hexa-core Apple A10X Fusion Chip.

It has 3GB LPDDR4 RAM with 32 or 64GB NAND Flash. It also has 867MB/S WiFi a/b/g/n/ac networking with bluetooth 5.

It supports 2160p displays on SDR, HDR10, and Dolby Vision. It is preinstalled with TvOS 11, and is upgradable to the latest version of TvOS.
